Trail Rides & Trail Lesson Packages

Are you looking for a way to unwind? Look no further than one of our guided trail lessons! Take a break and unwind, while enjoying an instructional guided horseback ride along a path on our almost 500 acres of beautiful trails found throughout the Capik Nature Preserve.

Any Trail Lesson can be turned into a Trail Lesson Package by combining it with a half hour in the riding ring first.

English and Western Lessons are offered everyday except Mondays and Tuesdays, by appointment only.

Lessons are available for adults and children aged 3 and up.

2024 Summer Camp is currently accepting registrations! Pack a lunch and bring your sunscreen and water bottle because we have busy days planned with horse back riding lessons, trail rides (ages 8+), horse themed games and activities and arts & crafts.

We offer Horse Camp for ages 6 - 14, Adult Camp and a Junior Buckeroo Camp (ages 4 - 8).

Trail Rides

Trail Rides are available by appointment only. The Trail Ride is perfect for beginner or experienced riders looking to relax as you explore the 400+ acre Julian Cape Nature Preserve. Unwind to the sound of the woods while riding a trusted and experienced Trail Horse. Our Trail Horses are valued members of our team who excel at navigating the woods and trails with any level rider. You are welcome to bring a helmet from home or you can borrow one of our Riding Helmets at no cost. Closed toed shoes

Riding Lesson & Trail Ride Packages

Riding packages are a wonderful option for new riders. This is a great way to get some practice and gain some confidence before heading out into the trails. The first half hour of your ride will be an instructional riding lesson during which you will learn the basics of riding, posture and control while on your horse. After the lesson you will enjoy a scenic guided Trail Ride through the Julian Cape Nature Preserve.

Group Lessons

Riding with peers while learning to ride is a fun and engaging way to meet people with a similar interest while mastering new skills on horseback. Group Lessons are available by appointment Wednesday thru Sunday. At Legacy we strive for your success as a rider and a horseman. We keep our groups small (2-8 riders per Instructor) and our lessons plans fun and engaging. We focus on fun and safe horsemanship both in the riding ring and out on the trails. You will need to provide your own helmet.

Junior Lessons

Junior Lessons were designed for young riders looking to learn both riding skills and horsemanship in a group setting. The lesson is one hour long. Kids spend 1/2 the time learning to ride and 1/2 the time learning horsemanship skills such as grooming, tacking and leading.

Pack a lunch and bring your sunscreen and water bottle because we have busy days planned with horse back riding lessons, trail rides (ages 8+), horse themed games and activities and arts & crafts. At Camp you will have many opportunities to bond with our horses and learn horsemanship and riding skills.

Horse Club

Horse Club is offered multiple times a year. The Horse Club Program has been designed to allow young equine enthusiasts an opportunity to learn about horses and riding in a fun, safe and affordable way.

Horse Club 2024

Put down the screens for some hands-on learning outside! Learn how to care for and ride a horse. Horse Club is the place to meet peers who love animals and want to learn about horses. Each of the five weeks of horse club has a fun theme and opportunities to learn about various aspects of horsemanship. From breeds to anatomy to riding disciplines, horse club covers it all. The first four weeks the kids will ride in a riding lesson while they build skills for their trail lesson during week five! Horse club is for children ages 8-12.

Birthday Parties

We have many options for riding parties for children aged 8+ and adults. We know that horseback riding and pony parties can be a memorable experience for your family and friends to celebrate and we look forward to working with you to help tailor your party based on your needs! Build your own custom Birthday Party. When booking your party please book a rain date as well as we are an out-door only facility. Parties require a minimum of six participants.

Horsemanship Class $10 per participant

Horsemanship class is a half hour long. During the class kids will learn about safety with horses and how to brush and take care of a horse or pony.

Horse Arts & Crafts $7 per participant

Spend a half hour decorating your own horse themed arts and craft to bring home.

Little Buckaroo Lesson $45 per participant

Ages 3+. Maximum 16 participants. Little Buckaroos will have a mini Horsemanship Class and a Mini Riding Lesson and then get to decorate their own horseshoe to bring home. All three activities total just over an hour combined.

Riding Lesson $45 per participant

This half hour lesson is a fun introductory lesson that is perfect for your guests to learn how to mount, steer and control their horse. Our instructors will encourage and motivate party goers to learn new skills and have fun.

Games on Horseback $20 per participant

Spend a half hour playing games like Red Light - Green Light, obstacle courses, Relay Races and Four Corners. These childhood games are elevated into a memory sparking experience by playing them on horseback! You must book the Riding Lesson to be able to book this option.

Trail Ride $45 per participant

Party goers can ride through the forest with our experienced instructors for a half hour. The trail ride can be upgraded to an hour ride for an additional fee of $15 per rider. Trail rides are restricted to ages 8+.

Booking Fee & Savings

BOOKING FEE - $75

The booking fee is non-refundable and reserves both your date and rain date. It also grants you access to the private picnic area for the entire time the kids are enjoying the organized activities as well as one hour after. We ask that you throw out your garbage at the end of your party but we handle all garbage removal from the nature preserve for you.

Horses & Doughnuts

If you are looking to escape into the countryside with a cup of coffee and friendly conversation, this is the program for you.

Wednesdays: 10:30 - 12:00, we enjoy a half hour of coffee, doughnuts and socializing. Followed by a relaxing one hour group trail lesson that focuses on relaxation, mindfulness and building confidence on a horse.

Sundays: 9:30 - 11:00, ride first and then relax and stretch out with a cup of coffee, doughnuts and socializing.

Join us one time for $60 or purchase the '10 pack' for $550.
